Webinar: Strategic Use of Settlement Offers Under State and Federal Law

This webinar will consist of an overview of offers of compromise (and their associated cost-shifting provisions) available under the Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 68 and California Code of Civil Procedure section 998.  The discussion will include a review of the basic components of each type of offer, the key differences between them, avoidance of potential pitfalls, the importance of timing, and other strategic considerations when making these offers.

Christian Andreu-von Euw

Christian Andreu-von Euw is a technology trial attorney at Morrison & Foerster, LLP that focuses his practice on trade secret, patent, and copyright disputes.  He represents electronics, biotechnology, and software companies in disputes in state and federal courts and before arbitrators and the International Trade Commission.  Before becoming an attorney, he worked as an electrical engineer in the United States and Germany and designed products in the telecommunications and broadcast video industries.


Mariam Kaloustian is an Assistant United States Attorney with the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office, Central District of California. Prior to joining the federal government in 2018, she was a partner at a private law firm in Downtown, Los Angeles, where she represented public entities and officers in civil rights and employment matters.
