Webinar: Nonresident Aliens: Federal and California Tax Residency Highlights and Planning Strategies
This program offers 1 participatory MCLE credit. You must register in advance to participate: https://bit.ly/2W4WDsz
The webinar will be a general discussion of the basic U.S. and California income tax rules that apply to nonresident aliens, including determining when a person is a U.S. or California resident for U.S. federal and California income tax purposes. In addition, the discussion will center on the kinds of U.S. and California-source income that is subject to tax in the hands of nonresident aliens, and tax planning strategies that can be implemented in connection therewith (including the effect of income tax treaties on residency issues and substantive income tax issues.) The subject matter of the webinar applies ‘in general’ to any nonresident alien that visits/comes to the U.S. from any foreign country. Nevertheless, the examples that will be given throughout the presentation will focus specifically on Chinese and Mexican nonresident aliens.
