Webinar: Medi-Cal with No Asset Limits

February 7, 2024 @ 12:00 pm 1:30 pm

1.5 Participatory MCLE Credits and 1.5 Legal Specialization in Estate Planning; Trust & Probate Law

This webinar will explain the new rules the Department of Health Care Services has released as it struggles to make the trust regulations adopted after OBRA 1993 mesh with no-asset-limits Medi-Cal. For patients in long term care, the route to eligibility will be easier. Residents of memory care units or assisted living facilities will find it as impossible as ever to qualify for Medi-Cal help in paying the steep monthly fees. And for applicants at home, there are many promising waiver programs that can help. Navigating the income rules will be the challenge for all programs.

On a positive note, we will no longer have to worry about transfers made after 2023; and we have many tools to avoid estate recovery. The webinar will discuss sample cases and look at alternative planning approaches.
