2024 Criminal Law New Laws Webinar

Another new year means more new laws to learn about and every year brings about changes to various aspects of California criminal law.  This webinar will explain all of the changes that take effect 1/1/2024 and discuss how these changes will affect both the prosecution and defense of criminal cases in California.
 
You will hear from both a deputy public defender and a deputy district attorney, which will give you the unique experience of listening to both sides discuss these new laws.

Albert Camacho Jr.

Albert Camacho Jr. has been with the LA County Public Defender’s Office for 29 years and is currently assigned to a felony trial practice.  He has presented the New Laws Webinar for the past several years and has also presented to various organizations on felony sentencing and immigration consequences of criminal convictions.

Alan Yochelson

Mr. Yochelson is a Head Deputy District Attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, where he has served since 1981.  He is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, and the Southwestern University School of Law.   Mr. Yochelson has worked in several assignments, including the Career Criminal, Sex Crimes, Special Investigations, and Juvenile Divisions.  He served as second chair in People v. Richard Ramirez (the “Nightstalker”), and as co-counsel in People v. Laurence Powell, et al., (the “Rodney King” police misconduct prosecutions), and People v. O.J. Simpson.  He currently is the Head Deputy of the District Attorney’s Justice System Integrity Division.  He is a past chair of the California State Bar Criminal Law Section Executive Committee, and California Committee of Bar Examiners, and previously served on the California Commission on Judicial Nominee Evaluations.  The views expressed in this presentation are his own.
