Webinar: IRS Priorities Fall 2020

This webinar will give an overview of current IRS initiatives in 4 areas:  conservation easements, cryptocurrency, employment tax enforcement and the new IRS fraud enforcement office.  The webinar will cover the status of the conservation easement cases winding through Tax Court and the IRS’ current settlement offers for taxpayers whose cases are currently pending in Tax Court.  The IRS is stepping up its efforts to track cryptocurrency transactions.  We will discuss IRS’ current efforts with cryptocurrency transactions including the warning letters that the IRS has sent out and the new OIC and 1040 forms that require disclosure of taxpayers’ cryptocurrency holdings.  We will delve into the IRS’ increased efforts regarding employment tax enforcement including its increasing willingness to pursue criminal liability for employers’ failures to comply with their employment tax obligations.  We will also discuss the implications of the IRS’ recently established fraud enforcement office, the IRS’ Global High-Wealth Examination Program and the IRS’ High Income Non-Filer Campaign.
