This webinar will cover settlement tips from top environmental lawyers and mediators on how to resolve environmental matters including CERCLA, Clean Water Act, CEQA and water rights. Topics will include statutory ADR rules in environmental cases, and interactive dialogue on settlement strategies on issues such as: timing, mediator selection, negotiation principles, insurance, injunctive relief, attorneys’ fees, and preparation and management of the ADR session.

Eleanor Barr began her legal career 35 years ago as a litigator of complex cases and left her environmental litigation practice in 1999 to mediate full-time. Over the past 25 years, Eleanor has mediated in a variety of areas, including environmental, employment, real property, insurance coverage, and organizational and educational disputes. Eleanor has been named a Top 50 Neutral in California by the Daily Journal and a Thought Leader Global Elite by Who’s Who Legal. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators, a frequent lecturer on mediation and negotiation, and has taught mediation as an Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine School of Law.
Brownstein shareholder Christopher Guillen, Esq. acts as a trusted advisor on complex litigation and compliance projects as they relate to natural resources issues. His expertise spans the intersection of land use and water law, with a particular emphasis in the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). His clients range from public water agencies to corporations and private property owners. Chris also advises landowners, developers, agricultural interests and energy companies on environmental review under CEQA and land use permitting requirements during all phases of project development and litigation.
Erin K. Poppler is a trial attorney at Edlin Gallagher Huie + Blum specializing in environmental litigation. She counsels and advocates for individual, corporate, industrial, and municipal clients involved in litigation, enforcement actions, regulatory proceedings, compliance and permitting issues, and transactional disputes. She serves the National Association of Women Lawyers as Co-Chair of its Environmental & Energy Law Affinity Group, is a member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, and is recognized as a Super Lawyer for Environmental Litigation.
Gideon Kracov is a distinguished mediator at ADR Services, Inc. in Los Angeles, with a focus on civil, environmental and real estate cases. He offers dispute resolution honed by 30 years of experience for diverse business, individual, labor and non-profit clients, as well as service at the highest levels of California state government. The Daily Journal Verdicts and Settlements describes Kracov as “highly collaborative” and “pragmatic” with a “committed approach to preparation.” Mr. Kracov is the former Chair of the California Lawyers Association Environmental Law Section Executive Committee. He serves on the adjunct faculty at the Loyola Law School where he teaches land use law and regulation. Mr. Kracov is the California Governor appointee to both the California Air Resources Board and the South Coast Air Quality Management District Governing Board.
