The speakers will discuss responding to e-discovery requests, asserting appropriate objections, discovery of information that is not reasonably accessible, and compelling production of information in trust and estate litigation matters.

Matthew R. Owens
Matt Owens is a partner in the trust and estate litigation team at the international law firm, Withers Bergman LLP, in the San Diego office. He focuses his practice on trust, estate, and inheritance disputes. Matt has prosecuted and defended a wide range of matters in probate court, including trust contests, elder abuse actions, accountings, contested conservatorships, and claims involving breach of fiduciary duty. His clients include high net worth individuals and families, corporate trustees, and private professional fiduciaries. Matt has successfully handled numerous trials, arbitrations, and appeals in trust and estate disputes. Matt is a certified specialist in estate planning, trust, and probate law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Matt frequently speaks and writes on trust and estate litigation topics, and he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the California Lawyers Association (TEXCOM). He was recognized as a Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” for 2021-2022, has been a Super Lawyers Rising Star each year since 2013, and has been on Legal Week’s Private Client “Ones to Watch” list each year since 2017.
Scott Alexander Fraser
Scott Fraser is an attorney at Crist Biorn Shepherd and Roskoph. Mr. Fraser’s trust and estate litigation practice focuses on the representation of trustees, personal representatives, and beneficiaries in all aspects of disputed trust administration and probate. Mr. Fraser also represents clients in will and trust contest matters, disputed property claims, and creditor issues involving trusts and estates. Mr. Fraser is a frequent contributor to CEB and acts as the update author for numerous chapters in Drafting Revocable Trusts and California Will Drafting.
