September 26 – September 27
The California Lawyers Association Public Law Section is pleased to announce that its Public Meetings, Public Records Conference will be held at the Westin Carlsbad Resort and Spa on September 26-27, 2024. Participants may attend in person for this for this one and a half day continuing legal education and networking event.
This conference provides timely, relevant legal content on public meeting and public records laws and is geared toward public law practitioners at both the state and local levels. The first half day will cover issues related to the Bagley-Keene Act and Brown Act and include panels discussing legal updates, the ins and outs of closed session noticing, and the challenges of meeting management. The first half day will conclude with a networking reception on the beautiful resort grounds. The second full day of the conference will cover issues related to the California Public Records Act, including panels providing legal updates, practical tips for handling exemptions, and best practices for responding to police-related records requests.
