Panel 1: Creating an Inclusive Environmental Movement
12:00 p.m. – 1:50 p.m.
With “Welcome Remarks” from Ash Kalra, State Assembly Member, California State Assembly, District 27
This panel will feature speakers who work within or alongside environmental justice organizations and will discuss the need for collaboration and capacity building with advocates on the ground. The panelists will offer best practices for inclusion, and harmful practices that lead to exclusion and poor environmental outcomes. The panel will also discuss strategies to broaden diversity in the environmental bar.
Panel 2: Climate Resiliency and Challenges for Certain Communities
2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
This panel will discuss the research demonstrating the climate displacement effects on certain communities in California, what regulatory or administrative actions might be instituted to assist populations with climate resilience and suggest legal applications that might be pursued to address climate change inequities.
Panel 3: Changing Our Views of Outdoor Access to Achieve Equity
3:10 p.m. – 4:10 p.m.
The panelists will discuss best practices for achieving environmental equity and why this is vital for communities to thrive. The panel will highlight existing laws and pending legislation to create systemic change and positive outcomes.
