Association Management System
<< Back to Leadership Resources
Hello and thank you for your service as a CLA Volunteer Leader!
CLA employs several computer data systems, but most of our member data is centrally located in what is called an Association Management System or “AMS”. This is a type of purpose-built data system designed specifically for association management and operation. Many of the features are for “back-office” use by CLA staff in the day-to-day operations of the organization, plus several key features for our members. The AMS is largely a “transactional” accounting-based system designed around membership, whereas other CLA data systems serve specialized functions such as: learning/MCLE, on-line member community, eMarketing, etc.
The AMS is easily accessed by going to the CLA website: www.calawyers.org, logging in, and viewing your user profile (the membership management quick-start guide is linked at the bottom).
Primary “back office” functions for CLA Staff:
- Membership management, i.e. type of membership, section memberships, status
- Committee management
- Member profile/demographics
- Event registrations
- eCommerce functions for membership, events, and sponsorship payments
- Improve staff operations, efficiencies, business processes, transition to a digital workflow
- Improve and maintain the accuracy of our membership counts
- Provide powerful insights to member engagement, and personalized experiences
- Accelerate the shift to a data-informed culture
- Many other features and benefits to come as we continue to build out the system
To CLA members the AMS offers:
- A centralized place for your membership status
- The ability to pay/renew regardless of California license status (CLA has many non-attorneys, out of state, and international members that do not interact with he State Bar)
- Centralized place for all event registrations/payments
- Award recognition, nomination and selection process
- The ability to add a section at any time
- Access to search and view the CLA Member Directory
- MCLE tracking for CLA events (enhanced features for CLA education catalog and self-reported credits to follow)
Additionally, CLA Member Leaders will use the AMS for:
- Committee enrollment, rosters
- Viewing a full list of all Section Members (ExComs)
- Global view of association-wide membership data/dashboards (Board of Representatives)
- Coordinate demos and training through Section Managers
