Webinar: Demystifying Attorneys’ Fee Awards in IP and Contract Cases: What Every In-House Counsel Needs to Know
May 21 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
1 Hour MCLE
As in-house counsel, navigating the complexities of intellectual property (IP) and complex commercial litigation is an integral part of your role – especially when it comes to managing the financial aspects of these cases. Transactional attorneys must also consider attorneys fees and indemnification provisions when negotiating contracts. One of the most complex and often misunderstood areas of IP and contract law is the awarding of attorneys’ fees. The potential for shifting fees in contract, patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright disputes can have significant financial and strategic implications for your company.
The program will explore:
- Understanding when and how attorneys’ fees can be awarded in IP and contract litigation, including the key legal standards and factors that courts consider.
- Strategic implications of attorneys’ fee awards, and how they can influence the course of litigation and settlement negotiations.
- Best practices for managing the risk of fee-shifting in your company’s IP and commercial disputes.
Whether you are managing ongoing litigation, considering settlement options, considering bringing a legal action, transactional attorney or simply looking to expand your knowledge of IP and commercial litigation strategy, this session will equip you with the tools and understanding you need to make informed decisions when litigating and/or negotiating.
