Disability Pride Month is observed annually in July. This is an important opportunity for us to recognize the contributions, experiences, history, achievements, and struggles of people with disabilities. Additionally, Disability Pride Month reminds us that disabilities are a natural part of the human experience, and if we are blessed to live long enough, all of us will experience some level of disability during our lifetime either directly or indirectly. As we enter the Month of June, it is important to reflect on the significance of Juneteenth to American History. Juneteenth is more than just a time for celebration, it is also a time for reflection. I am the descendant of the Black slaves who built the United States over multiple generations and hundreds of years without any compensation or recognition for their sacrifice. I am the manifestation of the dreams of my ancestors who were denied basic human rights, educational opportunities, and economic opportunities because of the color of their skin, the texture of their hair, and their beautiful African features. Over the past few weeks, the legal community here in the United States has faced extraordinary challenges. Law firms, judges, and the Rule of Law itself have been under attack.
