LETTER FROM THE FORMER CHAIR
Written by Michael Rosen-Prinz*
Dear Readers of the Quarterly:
This is my fourth and final column for the Quarterly, and by the time this issue is in your hands I will have stepped down as Chair of the CLA Trusts & Estates Section Executive Committee (TEXCOM). In addition to introducing our new TEXCOM officers and members, and recognizing some of our departing members, this column will share some information about how TEXCOM’s leadership is structured.
Every spring, TEXCOM’s Nomination Committee convenes to choose new TEXCOM members. Those new members commit to serve for six years. At the end of their term, each member is invited to submit their candidacy for Vice-Chair, which is the first rung of a five year leadership ladder, for a total commitment of 11 years. The Nomination Committee also chooses the Editor-in-Chief of the Quarterly, and the incoming Vice-Chair (who will then become Chair the following year). Although the Nomination Committee’s process is shrouded in mystery, it involves a thorough review of all candidates and for many years has provided us with excellent results!
