CHAIR’S MESSAGE
Written by Michael McDonnell
Chair
Hello, PLS Members! It is my pleasure to serve as Chair of the Public Law Section (PLS) this year, and I’m delighted to provide you with updates about our section and introduce you to the latest edition of our Public Law Journal. First, I would like to thank my fellow officers, Darren Ziegler (Vice Chair), Darold Pieper (Treasurer), Katherine Kieleen (Secretary), and Megan McClurg (Past Chair), and the invaluable members of our Executive Committee (past and present) and Advisors for their hard work in bringing excellent educational programs, resources, and networking opportunities to our members.
Our section has made significant strides in promoting public law education and advocacy. We’ve successfully hosted conferences, including our Public Law 101 Conference and our Public Meetings, Public Records Conference, which have brought together leading scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss pressing and preeminent public law issues. We’ve hosted webinars and published articles on critical public law topics, including artificial intelligence, responses to natural disasters, and administrative law. We continue to reach out to our law school community with Public Law Panels to help inform law students about exciting and rewarding career paths in public law. We are proud of these efforts and hope they have provided our members with valuable insights into public law topics and meaningful connections to their fellow public law practitioners.
