CLA Strengthens Relations with EPO
The California Lawyers Association Intellectual Property Section recently reported on its engagement with the European patent system through the U.S. Bar–EPO Liaison Council. As part of these activities, CLA representatives met with the European Patent Office, the EPO Boards of Appeal, and members of the Unified Patent Court to discuss recent developments in European patent law, quality initiatives, and emerging case law. In addition, a CLA user-led educational initiative was formally placed on the record and acknowledged by the European Patent Office at the SACEPO Working Party on Quality as an example of how practitioner education can contribute to patent quality. These efforts reflect CLA’s ongoing commitment to fostering understanding of non-U.S. patent systems and supporting high-quality, informed patent practice through international dialogue and education.
