Ari Stiller is a Certified Appellate Specialist and partner of Stiller Law Firm in Encino, California. He has briefed and won numerous appeals in state and federal court, including the Ninth Circuit, the California Supreme Court, and the California Court of Appeal. His recent, significant victories include Kim v. Reins International California, in which the California Supreme Court ruled in favor of Ari’s client on an important wage-and-hour question, and Nirschl v. Schiller, in which the Court of Appeal defined the scope of anti-SLAPP protection for prefiling settlement talks.
Beyond serving as appellate counsel, Ari also helps trial lawyers handling their own appeals, including consulting on briefing and appellate procedure. Outside of his practice, Ari serves as a Lecturer in Law at USC Gould School of Law. He sits on the State Appellate Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and serves on the California Lawyers Association’s Committee on Appellate Courts.
Brandon Hamparzoomian is a staff attorney at the California Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate District, where he has worked for over six years. In this role, he has worked on a diverse range of civil and criminal appellate matters. Before joining the court, he practiced at a Fresno-based business firm, representing clients in both litigation and transactional matters. He serves on the California Lawyers Association’s Committee on Appellate Courts.
Allison Ehlert is a Supervising Deputy City Attorney with the Oakland City Attorney’s Office, where she litigates the Office’s appeals and writs of mandate, as well as dispositive motions in the trial court. Before joining the City Attorney’s Office, she was a partner in a boutique appellate practice where she represented workers, consumers, and individuals in employment-discrimination, wage-and-hour, consumer-fraud, and civil-rights cases in dozens of appeals in the state and federal courts. She has prevailed in cases in the Ninth and Sixth Circuit Courts of Appeals, the California Supreme Court, Ohio Supreme Court, New York Court of Appeals, and the California Courts of Appeal. She has also drafted several amicus briefs filed in the United States Supreme Court and the California Supreme Court. Allison is a member of the Bay Area Appellate American Inn of Court and the Appellate Committee of the Alameda County Bar Association
