This program will provide the audience an overview and general information about Uruguay as a party to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). This program will go into the details about why Uruguay took so long to sign and join the PCT Agreement. The goal is to share information on the implementation of the PCT in Uruguay and benefits for Applicants filing patents in Uruguay.

Juan Lapenne
Juan Lapenne has been a partner at Fox and Lapenne since 2015. He received his LLM in International Protection on Intellectual Property Rights. Between 2014- 2022 he was an Adjunct Professor of Trade Law and IP Law at Universidad de la RepĂşblica, Uruguay. During 2009-2010, he was part of OAS (Organization of American States), Department of Legal Services, General Secretariat, Washington, DC. He is author of several publications in IP field and he regularly participates in speaking engagements sharing his expertise.
