Discussion of the Ninth Circuit’s recent decision in Briskin v. Shopify, Inc. that significantly expands the scope of specific personal jurisdiction over e-commerce and online platforms. This ruling departs sharply from prior case law, holding that making online services accessible to consumers in a state may suffice to establish personal jurisdiction. This webinar will discuss the potential effects of the Shopify decision and the steps e-commerce and online platforms can take as a result.

Samuel Hyams-Millard is an associate in the San Francisco office of Sheppard Mullin and a member of the firm’s Privacy & Cybersecurity Team.
