Webinar: Ethics in Employment Litigation: The Rules of the Road in Everyday Practice

A practical discussion of the real-life ethical issues we face litigating employment cases. Topics will include asserting only meritorious claims and contentions, using AI responsibly, joint representation, confidentiality, fairness and courtesy, ex parte communications, spoliation of evidence, requests for production of sensitive or damaging documents, managing questionable testimony, favoring client over attorney interests, saying no to clients, and candor in factual and legal arguments.

Phillip Horowitz

Phil Horowitz has represented employees for over 40 years. He litigates cases for wrongful termination, sexual harassment, disability discrimination and unpaid equity. Mr. Horowitz won the leading California Court of Appeal summary judgment case Nazir v. United Airlines. He’s served in the leadership of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar (now part of CLA) since 2002, including as Chair. Mr. Horowitz was on the Board of the California Employment Lawyers Association for 17 years, including as Chair. Mr. Horowitz volunteer teaches trial advocacy at Stanford University.

Leonard H. Sansanowicz

Leonard H. Sansanowicz has spent his entire career prosecuting harassment, discrimination, defamation, whistleblower retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour/wage theft claims, both individual and representative actions. He is Chair of the California Employment Lawyers Association, and has served on its Board for many years. Mr. Sansanowicz is a member of the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment Section of the California Lawyers Association.

Alexandra Stathopoulos

Alex Stathopoulos defends employers in complex wage and hour class actions and high-stakes single plaintiff cases, and provides creative and practical counseling on a wide range of employment issues including new and developing areas of the law, particularly artificial intelligence and workplace technology regulation. Alex is active on the Executive Committee for the California Lawyers Association (CLA) Labor and Employment Section and is an Editor-in-Chief of the CLA Labor & Employment Law Review. Alex also serves on the Executive Committee for the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) Labor and Employment Law Section.
