Please share:

May 26, 2022 @ 5:00 pm 6:00 pm

Free event!

We invite our Environmental Law Section (ELS) members to stay connected and inspired through our new bi-monthly discussion series. Each session attendees learn, connect, and share about a current topic in environmental law and policy, such as current trends, new legislation, significant case decisions, documentaries, and more. Our discussions will touch upon environmental law issues through a range of topics and mediums. Register for an online discussion below. This series alternates bi-monthly with the ELS Book Club and additional discussions will be announced soon. If you have an idea for a future session topic, please submit your idea to Environmental@calawyers.org!

For this May session, we will meet to discuss World Oceans Day and the feature documentary film Blue. World Oceans Day is observed internationally on June 8 each year and supports the implementation of worldwide Sustainable Development Goals and fosters public interest in the protection of the ocean and the sustainable management of its resources. Blue is a feature documentary film charting the drastic decline in the health of our oceans. We invite you to visit the film’s website and watch it prior to our discussion: bluethefilm.org.

The film is available to rent on iTunes here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/blue/id1509558750?ls=1 Participants are also welcome to watch other ocean-based films that may be available to you (for example, Chasing Coral and My Octopus Teacher, currently available on Netflix, or Playing with Sharks on Nat Geo/Disney+)

This event is free and will be held over Zoom. Come to say hello and connect with your fellow Environmental Law Section members!

We are committed to accessibility! Virtual events are equipped with closed captioning. To request an in-person accommodation, send us a note at accessibility@calawyers.com or contact us at 916-516-1760 for assistance.
