A comprehensive overview of the estate planning documents, processes, and best practices necessary to draft an estate plan for either a single person or married couple in California. Discussion topics include all dispositive documents pertaining to death and incapacity as well as an overview of common administration pitfalls to avoid while drafting and community property considerations relevant to estate planning.

Melissa R. Karlsten is an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of California and a shareholder of the law firm of ARCR. The Board of Legal Specialization of the California State Bar Association has certified Ms. Karlsten as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law. She has been practicing in the area of Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law since 2002. She is a graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. Ms. Karlsten currently serves on the Executive Committee for the California Lawyers Association Trusts and Estates Section

Chelsea J. Suttmann is a Shareholder and Managing Director at Barulich Dugoni & Suttmann Law Group, Inc. Ms. Suttmann’s law practice focuses on high net worth estate planning, estate and trust administration, specifically inter-family business succession planning. Ms. Suttmann presently serves as the Practice Area Leader for the estate administration department.
