Wayne Basist is a Mental Fitness Coach and dynamic speaker known for his raw authenticity and ability to connect on a deeply human level. His journey from adversity to resilience demonstrates how profound challenges can transform into strength, purpose, and unforeseen opportunities.
Wayne spent years in commercial litigation and corporate bankruptcy law, working in Big Law, boutique firms, and building his own practice. He understands the relentless pressures, burnout, and emotional toll legal professionals face. His career ended prematurely when a catastrophic auto accident left him totally disabled.
Wayne’s expertise combines science-based mental fitness training with lived experience—transforming pain into purpose and setbacks into opportunities. His injuries led to eight spinal surgeries, chronic pain, and battles with addiction, depression, and PTSD. He explored traditional medicine, holistic therapies, intensive psychotherapy, committed to a 12-step recovery program, and ultimately mental fitness training to heal. This led to his becoming a Certified Health and Life Coach and Positive Intelligence® Mental Fitness Coach.
His coaching includes 1-on-1 sessions, small group programs, and firm-wide trainings. He is a frequent speaker for legal associations, non-profit and community organizations, and law firms, offering CLE courses accredited for 1.0-hour MCLE, including 1.0-hour of legal ethics and competency credit.
