Webinar: ARIPO, OAPI, AfCFTA … What do US practitioners need to know about IP rights in the African region

This program intends to give our audience an overview of the different intellectual property treaties in the African region. Our speaker will share the basic terms of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) for English-speaking countries, the African Intellectual Property Organization (Organisation Africaine de la Propiete Industrielle (OAPI) for the French-speaking countries, as well as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Protocol on Intellectual Property Rights poised to Harmonize IP policies across all the African Union (AU) member countries.

Lara is the founder/managing partner of O. Kayode & Co. With offices in Lagos and Abuja. She was called to be the Nigerian Bar in 1992 after sudying law at the University of Buckingham. She obtained an LLM in Intellectual Property Law from the QMW College, University of London in 1994. A CEDR accredited mediator since 2005, she is a member of the Trademark Mediators at INTA and the panel of neutrals at the Lagos Multi door courthouse in Nigeria.
She was appointed a Notary Public in 2014. An active and former Board member of INTA, she has consistently served on various committees at INTA and she is the current subcommittee chair person of the Unreal Campaign committee (MEASA) and Chair of the Global Advisory council for Africa at INTA.
