Webinar: A Primer on Military Diversion in California

Join us for an informative MCLE program that aims to equip both the defense and prosecution with the knowledge and tools to effectively navigate military diversion pursuant to Penal Code section 1001.80. The program will discuss the legal framework of Penal Code section 1001.80, including eligibility, suitability, and the diversion process.

Kevin Tanaka is a prosecutor in the Criminal Division of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. From 2018 to 2019, he was the head prosecutor of the Street Racing Task Force at the Metropolitan Courthouse. Since 2021, Kevin has served as a law and motions attorney where he responds to motions involving military diversion, mental health diversion, and Regional Center diversion. Kevin is currently a member of the California Lawyers Association Criminal Law Executive Committee. He earned his JD from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles and BA from California State University, Fullerton.
