2026 CLA Forest Bathing Walk

January 17, 2026 @ 8:30 am 10:00 am

Carbon Canyon Regional Park–Forest Bathing (Not a hike)

Trail Overview
There is a moment of awe that washes over you when you step into a forest. Century-old trees tower above, sunlight twinkling through them. Birds tweet. Spiders weave their elaborate webs. The smell of pine needles fill the air. The act of spending time in the forest is what the Japanese call shinrin-yoku, a term originating in the 1980s that means “bathing in the forest atmosphere,” says Qing Li, a researcher on this topic and a professor at Nippon Medical School in Tokyo. Family and friends are welcome to learn about this healing technique.

Carbon Canyon Regional Park is home to Orange County’s only grove of redwoods; 3 acres of majestic Coastal Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens). A 1.1-mile (FLAT) nature trail to the park’s beautiful Redwood Grove offers a special feature for meditators, bird watchers and other amateur naturalists.
