The Big Beautiful CA Conformity Discussion 1/1/25 and Beyond
With the possibility of conformity legislation enacted this summer in California and the OBBBA enacted July 4, there are good topics and policy matters to discuss. For example, with some of the individual tax changes from TCJA made permanent, should California do the same (such as no home equity deduction or miscellaneous itemized deductions). Should California conform to new tax cuts? What is the impact of some of the energy credit changes including transferability in California? What are the policy implications lawmakers should consider?
Presenters:
- Colin Grinnell, Chief Consultant, Senate Revenue & Taxation Committee
- Tina Kenzie, Tax Counsel V, Technical Resources Bureau, Franchise Tax Board
- Gina Rodriquez, Principal, Advocacy Services, Ryan
- Darien Shanske, Professor, UC Davis School of Law
- Saba Shatara, State Tax Partner, Reed Smith LLP; Chair, CLA Tax Section
