Message From the Chair

Hello ELS,

Approaching the halfway point of my year as Chair of the Environmental Law Section, I am grateful to submit this report reflecting on our work and inviting you to join us. The Section is now accepting applications for its Executive Committee through March 31 for three-year terms opening up in Fall 2026.

The Section’s seventeen-member Executive Committee draws from our vibrant, thoughtful, and deeply committed community of practitioners, public servants, and academics who care not only about the development of environmental law, but also about fostering collegiality and excellence within our profession. 

On a personal note, serving as Chair has deepened my appreciation for the role bar associations play in strengthening our legal community. The opportunity to collaborate with dedicated and diverse colleagues has enriched my own practice and broadened my understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing environmental law in California.

I encourage you to apply to help shape Section initiatives, broaden your network, and support California’s environmental law community.

• Applications are open to attorneys who are members of the Environmental Law Section and have an interest in volunteer leadership.
