The objective of this session is to establish clear and standardized technical definitions for anonymization, pseudonymization, and de-identification of data. The speakers will detail how these definitions translate across key regulatory frameworks and special data classes, and analyze how the differences in these regulations’ core definitions necessitate distinct technical implementations in data environments.
Learning Objectives:
● Differentiate between anonymization, pseudonymization, and de-identification definitions from key privacy regulations
● Understand the high level technical checks one can use to assess re-identification risk.
● Understand what types of questions you should be asking the technical folks to make sure the information is actually anonymized/de-identified/pseudonymized for regulatory compliance.
