As Chair of the CLA Family Law Executive Committee, I’m proud to reflect on the vital work we’ve accomplished together this year—and even more energized by what lies ahead.

Family law sits at the intersection of justice and humanity. Every case we touch affects real lives in profound ways. That’s why our goals—promoting excellence in the practice, educating our practitioners, and making out voices known in the ever-evolving family law legal authority in California—are more important than ever.

In recent months, we’ve worked tirelessly to advance thoughtful policy, foster professional development, and strengthen our network of practitioners. From legislative advocacy on critical reforms to hosting CLE programs that reflect the challenges of modern practice, we are ensuring that family law professionals are supported, informed, and empowered.

We’ve also prioritized inclusion, innovation, and collaboration. Whether through mentorship initiatives, cross-disciplinary panels, or our active engagement with newer attorneys and diverse voices, we are building a future-forward committee that reflects the dynamic communities we serve.

But our progress is a collective effort. I’m deeply grateful to the outstanding members of our committee, a team of dedicated advisors and our Standing Committee Chairs, who have contributed countless hours of volunteer time and service.  All have helped shape the future of family law in California.

Looking ahead, we will continue to advocate for access to justice, embrace technology responsibly, and engage meaningfully with the broader legal ecosystem. Coming up this Fall, there is a fantastic education program in four locations in California and I hope to see as many people attending as possible.  I encourage each family law attorney to stay involved, stay curious, and continue the meaningful work of making our profession stronger and more just.

With appreciation and resolve,

Alexandra O’Neill Muller, CFLS
