Celebrating Women in Competition Law in California” is back in town! Among our panel of exceptional female trailblazers of the competition bar are Megan E. Jones (Partner, Hausfeld), Beatriz Mejia (Partner, Cooley), Paradi Javandel (Trial Attorney, United States Department of Justice, Antitrust Division) and Katie Larkin-Wong (Director, Competition and Litigation, Door Dash). Conversation is moderated by The Honorable Lucy H. Koh, United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit.

Speaker

Judge Lucy Koh
Judge Koh was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit by President Biden in December 2021, to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California by President Obama in June 2010, and to the California Superior Court for the County of Santa Clara by Governor Schwarzenegger in January 2008. She was formerly a partner at McDermott Will & Emery in Silicon Valley; an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles; and in Washington, D.C., a Special Assistant to U.S. Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick and a Women’s Law and Public Policy Fellow on U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy’s Senate Judiciary Committee staff. She received her undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard.

Katie Larkin-Wong
Katie Larkin-Wong is the Director of Competition & Litigation at DoorDash where she manages the full gamut of competition risks from M&A to product counseling, investigations to litigation. Since joining DoorDash, Katie has led the company’s competition regulatory approval strategy for the Sevenrooms and Deliveroo acquisitions, is part of the team defending the litigation brought by Uber against the company’s Drive product, and advises on the company’s competition compliance strategy globally.
Prior to joining DoorDash, Katie was at Meta where she represented the company in the GIPHY and Kustomer transactions, served as the primary competition lawyer for Meta’s Central Products, Business Messaging, and Instagram teams, and supported Meta’s Digital Markets Act compliance. Katie also served as Product Counsel to Threads as it was being built and when it became the fastest app to 100M users just four days after its launch. Katie started her career at Latham & Watkins’ San Francisco office where she was an Associate in the Litigation & Trial Department and a member of the Antitrust and White Collar Practice Groups.
Katie devotes a substantial amount of her time outside of work to giving back to her broader community. In 2025, Katie was named the American Heart Association’s Bay Area Woman of where she now serves on the Executive Leadership Team. At the American Bar Association, Katie chairs the Standing Committee on Membership and is an active member of the Section of Antitrust Law having previously served on the Board of Governors and the Commission on Women in the Profession. Katie sits on the Executive Committee of the First District Appellate Project, the Advisory Board of the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession, as Board Emeritae to Ms. JD, and as a Trustee to her daughters’ school, Redwood Day. Katie graduated cum laude from Northwestern University’s Pritzker Law School and has a B.A. in Government and Psychology with an emphasis on Women’s Studies from Claremont McKenna College.

Beatriz Mejia
Beatriz Mejia leads Cooley’s San Francisco litigation department. Her practice focuses on civil antitrust litigation, class actions, and international cartel investigations. She is an active member of the ABA’s Antitrust Section, currently serving the Section’s Council. She is also on the Executive Committee of the California Lawyer Association Antitrust and Consumer Protection Section.
