Free Webinar: The Journey to Optimal Health: Reducing The Risk of Cancer and Other Chronic Disease
May 9 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Free event! Presented by the CLA Health and Wellness Committee
In this presentation, Dr. Peter Rogers will discuss:
1. Epidemiology. Western populations have high rates of cancer and chronic diseases like obesity, hypertension, diabetes, coronary artery disease, dementia. Many non-western populations have low rates of these diseases. What’s the difference in diet & lifestyle?
2. Migration studies. It’s not genetic. When these populations migrate to the west, they get the same diseases.
3. Treatment studies. When westerners imitate the diet of healthy non-western populations, they routinely show dramatic improvement.
4. Mechanisms of disease. It is useful to understand why some types of foods cause disease & others generate health. Understanding increases motivation to improve one’s habits.
