WC SECTION PARTICIPATES IN SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY’S SUCCESS IN LAW DIVERSITY PROGRAM

On February 21, 2021, WC section executive committee members Judge Sharon Velzy and Saro Kerkonian participated in Southwestern University School of Law’s “Succeeding In Law” diversity event.  The annual popular event for students and young lawyers features presentations by judges and experienced practitioners providing insight into the legal profession and offering suggestions on what steps can be taken to achieve success through a legal education and during a career practicing law.  Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the students first heard presentations from judges and practitioners during an at-large session.  Participants then met separately in smaller groups with the speakers in fields of law they had an interest in during breakout sessions. 

Several of the students and young lawyers attended the workers’ compensation breakout session and had a chance to learn first hand about the practice of workers’ compensation law and the career opportunities available.
