SSF Friends,

March is finally here.  The month of March is named after the Roman god of war, Mars, and March signified the time when military troops could again wage war after being held up by winter.  This March feels similar, as humanity finally gets the opportunity to wage war on a pandemic that has turned our lives upside down for an entire year.  Three vaccines are circulating, youth sports are back, schools are re-opening and businesses are finally seeing the light.  Spring this year really feels as though as we are emerging out of a long dark winter to a new world.

March is also Women’s’ History Month where we celebrate the extraordinary contributions made by women throughout history to our society.  Furthermore, March is also the month where Small Firm of the Year Award the Solo and Small Firm section seeks to celebrate its members by calling for nominations for our awards that celebrate those attorneys who make a difference in the legal arena and in our communities through our Excellence in Achievement and Excellence in Service Awards. If you know of an attorney who goes above and beyond in their legal advocacy or for their community, please recognize them by your nomination.

Having watched solo and small firms persevere and help their communities in so many ways throughout this unprecedented year, the SSF Excom is excited to announce the introduction of a new award to be given at this year’s Solo Small Firm Summit, The Small Firm of the Year Award.  This award will be given to a firm that demonstrates leadership, dedication, and contributions to the positive image of the legal profession through charitable and pro bono work that has contributed to the community in an impactful way or by the cultural, humanitarian, or educational advancement of others.  Small Firms of 2-5 attorneys may be nominated or self-nominate for this award.  A link for a nomination of this new will be sent out shortly so keep your eyes out for it. 

In closing, we here at SSF Excom are excited to spring forward and leave this last year behind us and are here to help you and your firm do the same.  As always, we love to hear directly from you about how we can help you and your firm be the best it can be.
