As the new Chair of the Solo and Small Firm section, I wanted to start my term by thanking the two women who came before me who made such a huge impact on our section. Renee Stackhouse set the standard for commitment to her role as Chair and then as Immediate Past Chair, driving the creation, compilation, editing, and publishing of our entirely revamped book, How To Manage A Law Office. The book holds the answers to all the questions that new solo and small practitioners may have. Our current Immediate Past Chair, Sabrina Green, has done an exemplary job leading our section through the turbulence of an unforeseen global pandemic. She has kept the spirit and energy of the section alive through very difficult circumstances. Thank you both, Renee and Sabrina, for all your hard work, dedication, and the wonderful example you have set for all our section officers.
Beyond dealing with the on-going challenges of a pandemic that never seems to ends, our section must now also adjust to the new CLA structure starting in 2022. All CLA members will have access to our content and our audience for programming and publication will expand significantly. Now is the time for us to create even more practical and engaging webinars, live events, and articles that can be of service to all CLA members. Attorneys from across all sections can improve their practices, work-life balance, and awareness of new trends with access to our valuable Solo and Small Firm section content. I look forward to working with the dynamic Solo and Small Firm Executive Committee and membership to help forge a new path for our section.
