Ca. Trs. & Estates Quarterly 2020, Volume 26, Issue 3

FROM THE EDITORS-IN-CHIEF

By Carlena L. Tapella, Esq.,* and Thomas W. Shaver, Esq.**

What an unexpected turn the world has taken since we began our tenure as Editors-in-Chief of the Quarterly. In the many years we have been practicing law, we can safely say that 2020 has brought the most significant changes in our professional careers. Through it all, we have been extremely fortunate to collaborate with a very talented group of individuals on our Editorial Board who work tirelessly to assemble a product worthy of our readers. Their efforts were made all the more challenging with having to work remotely in some cases, and meeting sometimes very short deadlines to ensure editing and publication deadlines were met.

We are pleased and excited to transfer the mantle of Editor-in-Chief to Mason Brawley. We greatly admire him for this significant undertaking, especially because he will be the sole Editor-in-Chief. His past work on the Quarterly, including acting as an Executive Editor this past year, leaves us no doubt that this transition will be seamless.

The Quarterly is fortunate to have a dedicated group of individuals on the Editorial Board whose numerous volunteer hours made publication of each issue possible. The adage "We couldn’t have done it without you!" is aptly proven when it comes to the time and effort necessary to publish the Quarterly. From working with authors, citation checking, editing, and proofing, the time contributed by each member of the Editorial Board is significant. We are certain that more than one of the members was burning the midnight oil checking over a hundred – yes, that’s correct – citations.
