When an attorney is meeting with a prospective client, the attorney is often thinking about making a positive impression on the prospective client. Attorneys need to remember that the initial consultation is not only for the prospective client to decide if he may be interested in retaining the lawyer to represent him on a legal matter. It is also an opportunity for the attorney to decide if he wants to represent the person or company. The attorney and the prospective client are actually interviewing each other. The seven tips below will assist the attorney with interviewing the prospective client.
