Real Property Law

Cal. Real. Prop. Journal 2018, VOL. 36, NO. 3

Statement from the Co-Chairs

Thomas E. Lombardi and Neil D. Kalin 2018-2019 Co-Chairs

On behalf of the Real Property Law Section (RPLS) of the California Lawyers Association, we would like to take this opportunity to say a few words to our members as we begin our new term in office and have exciting plans and activities to share. We are grateful that we have such an active section and many dedicated volunteers seeing through numerous educational and networking programs as well as other benefits.

As a reader of the Journal, which every RPLS member receives, we are sure you have already concluded the cost of membership alone is well worth reading this publication. We are looking forward to sharing many more fascinating and up-to-date law review quality articles with our membership. In the next issue, we kick off the Journal with our annual summary of top real estate cases from 2018 and important new statutory changes. We are always looking for people who would be interested in submitting articles and getting published, so do not be shy about reaching out to us to volunteer! Neil Kalin co-authored an article for this year’s final publication, his first attempt since law school over 30 years ago, and found it was a lot easier than he anticipated. As a result, one of his colleagues was inspired to write a submission for this coming year. Maybe you can start a chain of your own.

In addition to the Journal, keep an eye out for our monthly E-bulletin (another additional member benefit). The E-bulletin will provide you with up to date program and event schedules as well as notifications on newsworthy items and activities of the RPLS. Case alerts are always part of the offering in the E-bulletin and we always look for contributors as well—again, do not be shy about offering case alert or other abbreviated articles for submission. Starting in 2019, there will also be a monthly webinar highlighting specific articles in the E-bulletin, interviews with Section members, discussions about upcoming events, and whatever else is current for the RPLS.
