Public Law Section Hosts Three Law School Panel Receptions in October

By John M. Appelbaum*

The State Bar’s Public Law Section is pleased to announce that it is continuing its exciting partnership with California law schools by scheduling three upcoming panel receptions in October. The panel receptions bring together high-ranking prosecutors, public defenders, city attorneys, county counsels, and civil practitioners to discuss their careers, the benefits of public service, pointers in seeking public employment, as well as general guidance in pursuing such careers. Law students and new attorneys learn how these top practitioners got their start, the challenges they had to overcome, and the experience they look for when hiring, including what students should avoid when seeking public-service related employment. These practitioners share practical insights with the attendees that are not available in a book, based on real life experiences. Attendees then can ask follow-up questions and meet the panelists afterwards.

In addition to a panel held in Los Angeles in March 2016, the following are the upcoming panels. Law students and new attorneys are invited to attend:

Attorney Bill Marticorena speaks at the Public Law Section’s panel at UCLA School of Law on March 16, 2016.
