Keeping Women in Civil Litigation Practice: Making it More Civilized

While nearly half of law school graduates are women, their representation in the profession drops precipitously with each level of advancement. Just 35% of attorneys given the title of "partner" are women, and only 18% of equity partners are women. This last number has barely improved in the last decade.

In 20 years of litigation practice I have seen first-hand the attrition of women lawyers generally and, more importantly, the loss of exceptionally talented, hard-working and well-trained women litigators from law firms, from litigation and often from the practice of law altogether.
