FROM THE SECTION CHAIR 2019 Was Great; Let’s Make 2020 Better

I am writing this the day after the successful second annual meeting of the California Lawyers Association, our new home. Having served on the inaugural CLA Board of Representatives, I can assure you that after only two years in existence, CLA is flourishing and growing to be the association for all California attorneys. More importantly for our section, CLA is providing far more support to the sections. And that assists us in our mission: promoting excellence in all areas affecting dispute resolution, including the protection of the rights of all litigants, pre-trial discovery, the expeditious trial of lawsuits, alternative dispute resolution, effective judicial administration, uniform rules of court, and the protection and preservation of the independence of a judiciary of high quality.

I am succeeding Tom Greene as chair of the section. Under his leadership, 2019 was a blockbuster year. We continued to provide the publications that you tell us you value: the annual California Litigation Review, the monthly Litigation Update, the in-depth issues of California Litigation Journal (with a revamped and modernized format), and the quarterly Litigation Section E-news.
