From the Section Chair
By Megan A. Rowe
As my time as Chair of the Litigation Section has come to an end, I would like to thank all of the Litigation Section Executive Committee members, advisors, judicial advisors, and Standing Committees for their excellent work this year! Our Section volunteers have been working very hard to offer outstanding publications, webinars and in person programming. Collectively, we dedicated numerous volunteer hours to CLA’s first Annual Meeting. We presented our Section’s signature programs from our Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame series. In addition, we had the distinct honor to welcome Jennifer L. Keller, with Keller/Anderle, into the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame.
I encourage you to join us at our 2018 Annual Litigation and Appellate Summits on October 5, 2018 in San Francisco. We will be presenting topnotch panels on new developments, key trial skills as well as learning what general counsel, state and federal judges want from you! The Appellate track will include the latest developments in appellate practice presented by jurists and experts from across the state. You will be able to enjoy a special luncheon with California Supreme Court Justice Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar. Following the 7.5 hours of MCLE, please join us for a presentation where we will induct Bob Van Nest of Keker, Van Nest & Peters into the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame. In addition, California Supreme Court Justice Ming Chin will present Ellis Horvitz, with Horvitz & Levy, with his inaugural award and induction into the Appellate Lawyer Hall of Fame.
Following the Summits, join us as we celebrate Fleet Week and honor our veterans and military personnel. On October 6, 2018, the Litigation Section’s Veterans and Military Affairs Committee will present an Ethics Program: Protecting Those Who Serve: Attorney Compliance with Service Member Protections Under the SCRA and State law. The MCLE program will be followed by a reception overlooking San Francisco Bay while the Blue Angels perform overhead.
