Our Law Suits Fourteenth Annual Statewide Suit Drive was held over the summer. Participants donated gently worn suits in return for a donation receipt and a coupon for 50% off items at Men’s Wearhouse. We thank our advisor, Norm Rodich, for coordinating this event every year.
The Section and the Association of Business Trial Attorneys of San Diego co-sponsored a brown bag luncheon with Judge Katherine Baca in San Diego in September. Judge Baca provided insight on her courtroom, what she expects of counsel, tips and warnings, and also entertained questions. We thank our advisor, Charles Berwanger of Gordon & Rees, for arranging this event.
We published California Litigation Review, our section’s annual review of litigation-related developments. A number of distinguished Litigation Section members and former members contributed articles on such topics as employment law, class actions, appeals, and foreign litigation discovery. The Review also featured an interview with retired Supreme Court Justice Marvin Baxter. Kathleen Brewer chairs the Review and we thank her and each of the authors and editors.
