INTRODUCING
DAPHNE PIERRE BISHOP
Daphne Pierre Bishop, JD, AWI-CH, is managing partner at Van Dermyden Makus Law Corporation in Los Angeles. She been practicing employment law since 2001. During that time, she advised small to Fortune 500 companies in various industries on how to comply with the law, and defended employers against the gamut of employment-related claims ranging from single plaintiff discrimination cases to wage and hour class actions. Combining her litigation and counseling experience, Ms. Bishop’s practice now focuses on conducting and supervising workplace investigations as a neutral third party. Her clients trust her to investigate high-profile and complex workplace matters, including "me too" complaints, race discrimination allegations, and toxic workplace claims. When conducting investigations, Ms. Bishop is discreet and diplomatic in her evaluation and assessment of both employer and employee conduct, and her extensive experience working with employers and employees provides her with a unique advantage in assisting companies to prevent, uncover, investigate and resolve employee and institutional misconduct.
JANINE BRAXTON
Janine Braxton is a partner at Martenson, Hasbrouck & Simon. She advises and represents California and national employers with a wide scope of claims before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. With a practice emphasis on class action wage and hour employment defense, including PAGA claims, Ms. Braxton regularly defends employers with complex employment matters. Janine also has extensive experience defending single plaintiff claims of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, and other California Labor Code violations. She routinely defends employers in actions filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the California Civil Rights Department (formerly known as DFEH), and the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE). Ms. Braxton currently serves as a member of the California Lawyers Association’s labor and employment executive committee, a board member for the Northern California chapter of the national Labor and Relations Management Association and is also a board member on the Sacramento County bar association’s labor and employment committee.
