Letter from the Chair
Thomas A. Hassing
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On April 2, 2019, it was my delight to attend The Trademark Office Comes to California in-person program in the beautiful Julia Morgan Ballroom at the Merchants Exchange Building in San Francisco, California. The same program was also held at the Los Angeles Athletic Club in Los Angeles, California, two days later on April 4, 2019. Both programs included top officials and judges from the Trademark Office as well as experienced practitioners offering their insights and guidance on a wide range of trademark topics and practice issues. Congratulations to the program planning committee of Carole Barrett (Chair), David Branfman, Barbara Friedman, Mary Harris (Vice Chair), Robert Payne, John Buelter (CLA Section Coordinator). My thanks also to all of the speakers, volunteers, staff, sponsors, and especially to all of you who attended, and who made this such a successful event at both the Northern California and Southern California locations.
The Trademark Office Comes to California program is part of a series of regularly offered IP Law Section programs including The Patent Office Comes to California, The Copyright Office Comes to California, IP in Entertainment and Media, IP and the Internet, and the flagship annual Intellectual Property Law Institute. These programs enable you to interact with leaders and colleagues in the profession, and discuss the latest case law, legislation, and policy considerations, along with practical approaches to emerging and recurring issues in all areas of IP practice. I invite you once again to come and experience one or more of our in-person programs, and also to give us your feedback on how we can improve these programs to serve you better in the future.
