Where does inspiration come from? Is it internal – a mindful meditative practice? Or does it come from an external source – a muse or perhaps some material item that sparks the creative flow? No matter where it comes from, we are sincerely grateful it does! Thanks to the contributing authors, this issue of the Family Law News is flush with inspiring and creative perspectives.

Even the most experienced practitioner can benefit from a refresher on the fundamentals every now and then. Michael Loeffler provides a useful checklist of topics to consider when first meeting with a new family law client at the outset of the case. He suggests thinking outside the box to help set the table for better understanding a client’s goals and how to achieve them.

When considering one child to the next, the active participants in the lives of children vary. Some children will have family members other than parents – such as grandparents – who play important roles in the children’s routine lifestyle. But, not all parents consent to a grandparent spending time with the minor child. Alphonse Provinziano breaks down the important things to know about grandparent visitation and custodial rights, including how to help secure a grandchild’s access to his or her grandparent.
