Jerome A. Grossman
Welcome to Issue 4 of the 2017 Volume of the Business Law News (BLN).
Most often, we editors use this Message as a supplement to the summaries of articles set out in the Table of Contents. I commend the Table of Contents, and those summaries of the articles, to youâand I want to make a special shout-out to the authors of this issue’s articles, as well as to the CEBblog and the law firm of Littler Mendelson for allowing us to reprint their materials. Mainly, though, I want to use this issue’s message to appeal to you, the members of the Business Law Section and readers of the BLN.
As you may have read in the messages from the Chair of the Business Law Section of the last couple of issues, we have been preparingâand are continuing to prepareâfor life as part of an entity that is independent of the State Bar: the California Lawyers Association. The BLS will be coming off a period of reduced participation in section activities, including the standing committees, due in large part to the effects of our having been subject to Bagley-Keene open-meeting requirements, and, as we make this transition, we are making an extra effort to remind you, our constituents, that we can provide information relevant to your day-to-day work.
