Business Law Annual Review Issue 1, 2022 (Annual Review)

Executive Committee: Message From the Chair

Everett L. Green

Each year, the Governor and the California Legislature enact new laws or amend existing laws. By the close of the 2021-2022 legislative session, the Governor will have penned his signature to 770 proposals.1 This legislation coincides with new judicial opinions and rulings. As business practitioners, one of our challenges is to understand how these changes impact our practice while we help our clients navigate the changing legal landscape.

The following articles, which represent the work of multiple committees of the Business Law Section, analyze new legislation and judicial opinions that impact multiple practice areas. These articles are an invaluable source of information that can be used throughout the year and beyond.

In addition to analyzing new legislation, the Business Law Section, through its Standing Committees, studies, initiates, and sponsors new legislation or provides comments on pending legislation.
