Privacy Talks: Interview with Nick Ginger, a California Privacy Leader

This month, the Privacy Law Section is proud to introduce a new feature:  Privacy Talks:  Interviews with California Privacy Leaders.

This month, we interviewed members from our Executive Committee: Nick Ginger.

Nick is Senior VP and Senior Counsel at City National Bank. Nick currently serves as Vice-Chair of California Lawyers Association’s Privacy Law Section  In our interview, Nick shares what initially drew him to privacy law and his career transitioning from tax law to the privacy field. In shifting into privacy law, he became involved with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and originally wished to see a separate privacy law section within the California Lawyers Association. While Nick was not involved in establishing the Privacy Law Section, he was eager to get involved after learning of its creation. Now, as an executive committee member, he wants to see the section increase its membership and become a trusted resource not just for attorneys but also for California legislators. His advice for young attorneys and law students interested in privacy law is to get involved in privacy law organizations, such as IAPP and CLA’s Privacy Law Section, and join the section’s mailing list by emailing privacy@calawyers.org.
