Labor and Employment Law

The holidays are a time to show our gratitude, and, in that spirit, I want to highlight the work of a couple of this Section’s subcommittees. First, the New Employment Practitioner Conference Subcommittee, led by Section member Christina Ro-Connolly, has planned the Labor & Employment Section’s annual premier one-stop shop conference for anyone new to the practice of labor and employment law. On January 20 and 21, 2022, attendees will be treated to stellar tutorials and strategic advice in basic “need to know” sessions including Employment Law 101, Wage & Hour Basics, Leaves of Absence, and NLRA Compliance. New this year is a practical skills session on how to handle and present evidence in a virtual world. And returning this year is a session offering specialty credits in the areas of ethics and bias, useful for many, and just in time for attorneys with surnames beginning with H-M, like me, whose compliance period ends January 31, 2021. Conference registration opens soon, so watch your emails for session details and registration links.  Click here to find your MCLE compliance group.

I also want to recognize the innovative efforts of our amazing Marketing Subcommittee, which is an inspiring holiday story of how ideas led to action and recently, the achievement of milestones.  It seems like not that long ago when Section members Ireneo Reus and Stephanie Joseph recognized the need for greater and more fulfilling engagement with our membership, including on social media platforms. A new subcommittee was born, and its founders and current leadership, including Janine Braxton and Kevin Hosn, worked diligently to provide consistent and useful content on several platforms, with posts that were both educational and entertaining. Earlier this month, Labor & Employment reached the milestone of being the most followed CLA Section on LinkedIn!  To follow our Section on LinkedIn, click here.  To follow us on Facebook, click here, and on Instagram, click @clalaboremp (content coming soon).
