“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald

Next month will mark the beginning of the fall season and the end of my tenure as Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section Executive Committee. As we transition to the 2021-2022 term, I would like to introduce you to incoming Section Chair Latika Malkani. Latika’s practice focuses on representing employees and labor unions. She is a long-time contributor to the section having served as a voting member for three years – from 2012 to 2015 – and an Advisor to the committee for six years.  Latika has contributed to numerous L&E programs and projects, including our outreach efforts, our grant program, and our popular annual Public Sector Conference. Latika will be supported by Vice Chair Scott Stillman, Secretary Kevin Hosn, Treasurer Anne Giese and our amazing group of volunteer Members and Advisors.

The Committee will continue to bring you quality programs and initiatives to support and enhance your experience as Labor & Employment attorneys. You can count on more great sessions at the New Employment Lawyer program, the Public Sector and Wage and Hour Conferences, and the Annual Meeting. Our new Pathways to Careers in Employment & Labor Law will continue to provide valuable information to individuals interested in learning more about our area of practice. And, as always, we will provide timely and relevant webinars on a variety of topics. Our diversity, outreach and mentor sub-committees will continue to support programs which foster inclusivity, collaboration and civility in our practice area. So stay tuned and connected. And, as always, if you are interested in becoming involved please reach out to any of our Members or Advisors, listed at https://calawyers.org/section/labor-and-employment-law/executive-committee/.

I look forward to the future and great things to come.
